Frontline operations software startup Tulip Interfaces has officially joined the unicorn club, announcing a $120 million Series D funding round that pushes its valuation past $1.3 billion. The raise, led by strategic partner Mitsubishi Electric, validates the growing market for agile, cloud-hosted tools designed to replace decades-old manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Tulip’s platform is built around a no-code interface, allowing shop floor employees to quickly build customized applications using drag-and-drop tools and templates. This approach bypasses the need for specialized IT teams to manage every digital process. It functions as a "system of engagement," connecting human workers directly with machines, sensors, and existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
The software offers capabilities ranging from integrated quality assurance processes and digital checklists to built-in data collection and analytics. By automatically capturing information from human interactions and connected devices, Tulip provides manufacturers with real-time insights into performance and production bottlenecks.
The investment arrives as manufacturers grapple with labor shortages and supply chain volatility. Tulip claims its system offers significant relief: a 2023 Forrester study reported customers saw an average 448% ROI over three years, alongside a 15% bump in operator efficiency and a 50% reduction in time spent on administrative tasks.
