Samsung has announced a partnership with Glance to bring an AI-powered shopping experience called Glance AI to Samsung Galaxy devices in the United States.
The partnership will provide approximately 50 million US Samsung users access to Glance AI through both a dedicated app and an integrated lock screen experience. The platform uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized outfit recommendations and allows users to visualize themselves wearing suggested clothing items.
Glance AI requires users to provide a selfie or photo from their device's gallery. The system then generates AI-created images showing the user wearing different outfits. The technology is built using Google's Gemini AI and Imagen image generation capabilities.
Users can purchase recommended items directly through the platform, which Glance states has partnerships with more than 400 brands. The platform also incorporates trending content and local events into its recommendations.
"Glance AI is driven by a core human truth: we want to become the best version of ourselves," said Naveen Tewari, Founder and CEO of Glance & InMobi. "What stands between that aspiration and reality is the awareness of what is possible or access to platforms that enable this. Glance AI helps consumers discover and visualize what's possible, starting with an outfit that makes them look and feel great, and own it with just a tap on the platform."
Jason Shim, Sr. Director and Head of Samsung Galaxy Store USA, stated: "At Samsung Galaxy Store, we're proud to be more than just an app marketplace – we're a destination for innovation, discovery, and meaningful experiences tailored for Galaxy users. Glance AI is a perfect example of the kind of high-quality and unique content we strive to deliver."
Glance is described as a consumer technology company backed by Google, Jio Platforms, and Mithril Capital. The company is reportedly investing $200 million to develop Glance AI further. Glance operates as an unconsolidated subsidiary of InMobi. The Glance AI experience is opt-in for Samsung users and can be accessed through the Samsung Galaxy Store. The platform allows users to set AI-generated outfit images as wallpapers or share them on social media.
