Bern-based MedTech startup Rhovica Neuroimaging raised €2.5 million in a financing round. M2care led this Rhovica funding. This investment will accelerate Rhovica's emergency neurosurgical device development.
Rhovica, founded in 2023, develops SoNav, a bedside navigation system. This system guides extraventricular drainage (EVD) catheter placement in emergency neurosurgery. It addresses critical needs for patients with increased brain pressure.
Current EVD procedures often involve a trade-off between speed and accuracy. SoNav integrates sensors for real-time visualization during catheter insertion. This innovation positions Rhovica in the competitive medical technology landscape, alongside companies like Medtronic.
Advancing Emergency Neurosurgery Technology
The technology also enables continuous brain ventricle monitoring. SoNav reduces repeated CT scans, improving safety and outcomes.
It also lowers costs.
This approach differentiates Rhovica from other solutions, including those offered by Brainlab, by focusing on bedside emergency care.
Kickfund, Valuemaker, and several business angels also participated in the Rhovica funding round. This Rhovica funding round further strengthens the company's position. The neurosurgical device market is growing significantly.
This market expects growth between 4.5% and 14.2% in coming years, indicating strong potential for further startup funding in this sector. Carsten Laue, M2care Managing Director, joined Rhovica's Board of Directors. His expertise supports SoNav's clinical adoption, enhancing health tech solutions.
