London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), a giant in financial markets infrastructure, is significantly accelerating its operations by integrating OpenAI's generative AI. This move aims to transform how financial professionals interact with vast datasets, generate insights, and make critical decisions.

For years, LSEG has utilized AI for financial modeling. However, the advent of generative AI presented an opportunity to move beyond system improvements to fundamentally changing workflows. Despite advanced infrastructure, manual data synthesis and fragmented processes hindered speed and scalability.

Inside the Rollout

LSEG partnered with OpenAI, choosing its platform for model quality, enterprise readiness, and customer alignment. Many LSEG clients already used ChatGPT, creating a natural pathway to integrate LSEG’s proprietary data into their existing tools. This integration was key to the scaling trusted AI initiative.

LSEG deployed ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs across its global organization within weeks. Thousands of employees in product, engineering, research, and operations began using AI for tasks like drafting reports, synthesizing market data, and prototyping products.

Analysts now leverage ChatGPT to condense large volumes of financial information, drastically cutting initial research time. Product teams use AI for rapid feature prototyping, while business units streamline client communications.

Crucially, LSEG embedded governance from the outset, including model evaluation, human-in-the-loop reviews for critical outputs, and robust data privacy measures. This approach ensured that enabling employees was balanced with safety and compliance.

“We don’t think about restricting people, we think about enabling them,” Max Grigoryev added. “Give people the tools to move faster, while making sure everything remains safe and compliant.”

Grassroots enthusiasm fueled rapid adoption, with early users demonstrating immediate value and building momentum across teams and geographies. This shift is changing expectations around delivery times.

“Where customers once expected projects to take nine months, they now expect results in weeks or days. That mindset shift is profound,” said Grigoryev.
