Jarsy, a digital investment platform, has emerged from stealth with $5 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Breyer Capital. Participating investors included Karman Ventures and several angel investors, including Evan Cheng (CEO, Mysten Labs), Nathan McCauley (CEO, Anchorage), Richard Liu (CEO, Huma Finance), and C-Suite executives from Niantic, EigenLayer, Moonpay, Babylon Labs, Zettablock, and Confluent.
Jarsy aims to broaden access to private market investments by allowing individuals to invest in tokenized equity of private companies with minimums as low as $10. The platform utilizes a 1:1 asset-backed token model, where each token minted is backed by a real share held in custody, providing stable exposure to private markets. This model offers transparency into reserve documentation and share ownership.
Jarsy was founded by CEO Han Qin previously co-launched Uber China and led BNPL growth at Afterpay, COO Yiying Hu, who is an Uber and Square alum and Web3 entrepreneur, and CTO Chunyang Shen, who was a lead engineer at Uber and Afterpay.
The platform is designed for ease of use, allowing users to log in with email and pay in USDC or USD. It handles technical aspects such as wallet creation, seed phrases, and gas fees, removing barriers for users new to blockchain technology while providing full blockchain transparency for advanced users. Jarsy manages diligence and paperwork for these investments.
"Private equity investing has been a closed club for far too long," commented Han Qin, Co-founder and CEO of Jarsy. "We started Jarsy to rewrite the playbook – bringing accessibility, transparency, and blockchain technology to a space that's been gatekept by institutions and ultra-high net worth individuals."
The $5 million in funding will be allocated to accelerate product development, expand regulatory compliance initiatives, and grow the user experience team to ensure global accessibility. Jarsy also plans to invest in partnerships with legal and financial institutions, including Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (WSGR), to establish a robust compliance roadmap. A portion of the capital will support onboarding new private equity opportunities and educating investors through creator-led content and influencer partnerships focused on financial literacy and transparency.
Key competitors include EquityZen, which facilitates secondary transactions in private company stock, and Forge Global, which operates a marketplace for private company shares. These platforms primarily cater to accredited investors or institutions, whereas Jarsy aims to broaden access to a wider audience through tokenization and lower investment minimums.
