Fact Base Inc., the Tokyo-based operator of the ZUMEN drawing management system, confirmed the closing of a $28.5 million Series C funding round led by Insight Partners.
This investment arrives as global manufacturing sectors intensify efforts toward digital transformation (DX) to counter persistent labor shortages and antiquated processes.
The company’s core product, ZUMEN, is designed to digitize essential information sharing and order management workflows, moving small and mid-sized manufacturers away from paper-dependent systems.
Fact Base has demonstrated rapid scaling, achieving a 16-fold revenue increase and a 13-fold growth in its client base over the preceding two years. This funding round is notable as it represents Insight Partners’ inaugural investment into a Japanese company, signaling strong conviction in Fact Base’s capability to address structural inefficiencies within industrial operations globally.
Insight Partners manages over $90 billion in assets and focuses on high-growth software and technology scale-ups. Masataka Takeuchi, CEO of Fact Base, stated that this backing validates the product’s readiness for international competition, building upon existing operational footprints across 12 countries.
The company’s strategy integrates a uniquely Japanese approach to manufacturing excellence with global SaaS deployment standards.
Fact Base plans to allocate the new capital toward bolstering overseas hiring initiatives and executing region-specific marketing strategies across its expanding territory.
Furthermore, the organization intends to formally enter the European market during 2026, extending its geographic reach considerably.
Beyond immediate expansion, internal product development remains a priority, focusing on enhancing ZUMEN’s existing functionality. Fact Base also intends to launch parallel business lines, specifically targeting direct procurement features and systems facilitating inter-company collaboration within supply chains. The competitive landscape for operational software in manufacturing is intensifying, evidenced by recent large investments into adjacent platforms.
This environment underscores the market’s increasing appetite for verifiable solutions that underpin factory automation (FA) and enhance overall production efficiency.
The firm’s internal structure mirrors its rapid growth, having expanded its headcount sixfold in two years across 11 offices globally, with non-Japanese nationals comprising approximately 34% of the workforce.
Fact Base is currently recruiting aggressively across engineering and sales roles in preparation for future public listing considerations.
