Belgian SpaceTech startup EDGX secured €2.3 million in Seed funding. The imec.istart future fund and Flanders Future Tech Fund co-led the round. This capital accelerates commercialization of EDGX Sterna, its next-generation EDGX satellite AI compute platform.
Advancing Onboard AI for Space
EDGX Sterna enables powerful data processing directly in orbit. This capability eliminates the need to send massive raw datasets to Earth. The system uses Nvidia technology for high-performance computing. EDGX also secured a €1.1 million multi-unit deal with a satellite operator, similar to services offered by companies like Viasat.
The company plans an in-orbit demonstration on a SpaceX Falcon 9 mission in February 2026. Two additional flights are scheduled for 2026. EDGX serves satcom/telecom, Earth observation, and in-orbit servicing markets. This EDGX satellite AI compute technology supports AI acceleration and data processing in satellite constellations.
EDGX Sterna powers applications like spectrum monitoring and intelligent surveillance. It also enables 5G and 6G capabilities from orbit. This allows satellites to participate directly in next-generation mobile networks. The company, founded in 2023, delivers this crucial EDGX satellite AI compute capability.
