EdgeCortix, a Tokyo-based fabless semiconductor company, announced the initial close of its Series B funding round. This investment brings EdgeCortix's cumulative funding, including recent government project awards, to nearly $100 million. Yanmar Ventures, Pacific Bays Capital, and NTT Finance Corporation participated in this EdgeCortix Series B round.

The company specializes in energy-efficient artificial intelligence (AI) processing at the edge. This funding will accelerate mass-production deployment of its SAKURA-II AI co-processors. Furthermore, it fuels the rapid production of the next-generation SAKURA-X chiplet platform.

SAKURA-II has secured design-wins across multiple industries, including robotics and industrial automation. The SAKURA-X platform offers up to 2,000 TOPS per device, enabling advanced generative AI workloads. EdgeCortix's technology also features a dual-use nature, highlighted by a recent U.S. Defense Innovation Unit award. This positions EdgeCortix alongside companies like Nvidia and Intel in the evolving semiconductor industry.

The Series B funding round remains open, with additional closings anticipated throughout 2025.
