c/side, a cybersecurity startup focused on third-party script security, has raised $6 million in seed funding. Uncork Capital led the round, with Mantis VC, Scribble Ventures, Roar Ventures, and PrimeSet also participating. This brings c/side’s total funding to $7.7 million. Scribble and Roar Ventures also took part in the pre-seed round earlier this year.
Third-party script security is crucial because these scripts are vital for functions like analytics, chatbots, and error handling. However, they often change without the business knowing, creating significant security risks. High-profile breaches, like the one at British Airways, have shown how these poorly monitored scripts can allow malicious actors to steal information or alter website content. While attention is on securing infrastructure and open-source supply chains, the browser remains a vulnerable and often unprotected area.
