Discovery Capital is a matching equity seed stage investment program for select UMN startups. Startups may pitch to the Steering Committee and to an outside advisory board of professional investors before the UMN’s Chief Investment Officer decides whether to invest and under what specific terms and conditions. As this is a matching seed program, the startup must negotiate a term sheet with a lead outside investor before the University may invest. If a UMN innovator or UMN startup executive is interested in an investment from Discovery Capital, email venture@umn.edu to receive the program documents and schedule a meeting with the Discovery Capital Manager.
