SAP and Snowflake are advancing enterprise AI capabilities with the general availability of their zero-copy integration offerings. This move is designed to infuse AI with trustworthy, context-rich business data, a critical need transforming the enterprise technology landscape.

The partnership, first announced in November, focuses on dismantling silos between SAP data and broader enterprise data estates. Historically, integrating such data has been a complex, costly process involving extensive ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data duplication. The new approach promises to streamline this, allowing AI to better understand data context and meaning across an organization's entire data landscape.

At the core of this collaboration are two primary offerings. For new Snowflake customers, SAP Snowflake is an SAP-led path to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, sold and supported by SAP. Existing Snowflake users gain access via SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Snowflake, which provides bidirectional zero-copy integration of SAP data directly into their current Snowflake environments.

This integration offers near real-time access to semantically modeled SAP data without duplication, maintaining unified governance and availability. It enables enterprises to move beyond basic analytics to predictive insights by blending structured SAP data (like inventory and financials) with unstructured or external data sources (such as weather forecasts or social media sentiment).

Unlocking New AI Use Cases

Early adopters are already seeing benefits. Predictive supply chains can be built by combining real-time SAP inventory data with external market forecasts. Financial analysts can perform near real-time "what-if" scenarios by blending SAP sales and marketing data with other enterprise application data. Customer 360 views are enhanced by linking SAP purchase history with sentiment analysis to predict churn and personalize offers.

This unified data foundation is crucial for developing and deploying AI agents that can operate with confidence. Snowflake's Cortex Code allows organizations to build these agents rapidly on this integrated data. The integration is currently available on AWS, with Azure and GCP support planned for the latter half of 2026.

SAP and Snowflake are committed to making enterprise data trusted, governed, and AI-ready. This partnership is a significant step towards achieving that goal, enabling data unification for AI at scale.
