Madrid-based startup Shakers, a platform connecting companies with vetted freelance tech talent, has successfully raised €14 million in Series A funding. This round was spearheaded by Partech, with significant participation from KFund, Brighteye Ventures, Athos Capital, and Wayra (Telefónica's innovation arm). Shakers utilizes AI to match freelancers with projects, building hybrid teams of human experts and AI agents to tackle complex tasks. The platform aims to streamline the freelance hiring process, offering a more efficient and effective solution for businesses seeking specialized skills.
The substantial investment will fuel Shakers' expansion across Europe, doubling its team size within the next year. A key focus will be accelerating the development of its AI capabilities, enhancing the platform's ability to connect businesses with the ideal talent for their projects. Shakers projects orchestrating over 10,000 hybrid projects across Europe by 2027, capitalizing on the booming European freelance market.
Shakers' innovative approach distinguishes itself by focusing on "freeworkers," digital natives who actively integrate AI into their workflows. The company's platform analyzes over 1,000 data points per freelancer to ensure optimal matching, reducing the friction often associated with traditional freelance hiring. This strategic move positions Shakers as a key player in the evolving landscape of the European tech talent market.
