Milan-based urban mobility startup Wayla has secured €1.12 million in a crowdfunding round via Mamacrowd. The company exceeded its €1 million goal in under 30 hours. Travel firm Carrani Tours notably backed the initiative.
This fresh capital will drive fleet expansion and advance technology development. Wayla also plans to bolster its B2B services for companies and event organizers. The platform, founded in 2024, offers Italy's first urban van pooling service, promoting sustainable mobility.
Expanding Sustainable Urban Transport
Wayla initially launched in Milan, then extended operations to Monza and Brianza by June 2025. The service addresses evening and night-time transport gaps, providing a shared van model. This approach aims to reduce costs and lower emissions. It offers an alternative to traditional options like public transport.
The swift fundraising demonstrates strong community support for Wayla's innovative model.
The company has achieved over 60,000 app downloads since its launch. Wayla operates Wednesday to Sunday evenings in Milan. It also runs Fridays and Saturdays in Monza and Brianza. It positions itself as a safe, ecological, and cost-effective solution. This differentiates it from general ride-sharing apps like Free Now or Share Now. Funds will support acquiring more sustainable vehicles and national expansion across other Italian cities.
