Google is expanding its generative AI toolkit for developers, rolling out Nano Banana 2 Lite for faster, more cost-effective image generation and making Gemini Omni Flash accessible for advanced video creation and editing.

These releases aim to streamline the development of multimedia experiences, allowing for quicker iteration and scaling of creative concepts.

Nano Banana 2 Lite: Speed and Efficiency

Nano Banana 2 Lite is Google's latest image model, engineered for high throughput and speed. It delivers text-to-image outputs in approximately 4 seconds, making it suitable for interactive prototyping and rapid visual drafting.

Priced at $0.034 per 1K-resolution image, it offers a cost-efficient solution for developers prioritizing budget and velocity. Despite its speed focus, the model maintains reliable prompt adherence and consistent character rendering.

Nano Banana 2 Lite is available in Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. It is also integrating into consumer products like AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app.

Gemini Omni Flash for Video

The Gemini Omni Flash model, first introduced at Google I/O, is now accessible to developers via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. It specializes in high-quality video generation and conversational editing, accepting text, image, and video inputs.

Omni Flash is competitively priced at $0.10 per second of video output. Its capabilities include refining videos using natural language, multimodal referencing for scene consistency, and leveraging Gemini’s real-world knowledge.

Current limitations include 10-second video generation, with longer durations planned. Audio references and scene extension are not yet supported in the API.

Integrated Multimedia Workflows

The true potential of these models emerges when chained together. Developers can use Nano Banana 2 Lite for rapid image generation, then feed those images into Gemini Omni Flash to animate them into high-quality videos.

Google has provided demo applications like 'Anywhere' and 'Space Lift' to illustrate these integrated workflows. 'Anywhere' transports users to iconic landmarks via generated images, which Omni Flash then animates. 'Space Lift' reimagines room designs with Nano Banana 2 Lite and brings them to life with cinematic video showcases from Omni Flash.

Both Nano Banana 2 Lite and Gemini Omni Flash incorporate SynthID watermarking to ensure safety and transparency, allowing for verification of AI-generated content across Google platforms.
