The company announced an Impact Program x Professors, offering educators free access to its Pro tier and the ability to grant time-limited student access for course-related projects. This program seeks to foster a more interactive and personalized learning environment through voice AI applications, ranging from narrated course materials and accessibility tools to AI tutors. StartupHub.ai data shows ElevenLabs holds a strong StartupHub score of 79/100, with verified financials indicating a recent $550 million Series D raise in 2026, valuing the company at $11 billion post-money. This positions ElevenLabs significantly ahead of competitors like Coqui (48/100) and WellSaid Labs (61/100) in the AI voice market.
Professors from institutions including Harvard, NYU, and Cornell are already piloting the technology. Carolyn McGettigan at University College London is using ElevenLabs for research on synthetic speech and voice identity. Daniel Rubin at Stanford University is integrating it into conversational AI systems for educational content accessibility. At Harvard Kennedy School, Sharad Goel is developing voice-based tools for interactive learning, enabling students to ask questions during video lectures and receive responses in the instructor's voice. David Orlando Niño Muñoz, a law professor at Universidad de los Andes, noted that the program helps overcome access barriers, allowing educators to explore AI-enhanced learning experiences practically.
Alongside the professor program, ElevenLabs has also launched the voice of Albert Einstein on its Iconic Voices platform. Through a partnership with CMG Worldwide and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Einstein's voice has been recreated to offer a conversational learning experience. This initiative allows users to engage with Einstein's ideas and writings through interactive AI agents and narrated content via the ElevenReader app. The recreated voice captures subtle nuances of human speech, aiming to reflect how Einstein communicated. This addition places Einstein's voice alongside other figures like Richard Feynman and Maya Angelou in ElevenLabs' collection.
The move by ElevenLabs into the educational sector highlights a growing trend of specialized AI tools being deployed for academic purposes.
