Arnhem-based Deftpower, a CleanTech startups provider of AI-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, secured €12.5 million in a new funding round. Endeit Capital led this investment. Existing investors Proeza Ventures, 4impact capital, Rethink Mobility, and business angel Jan Fredriks also participated.
Deftpower, founded in 2020, develops an AI EV charging platform for Europe. The company offers white-label solutions for eMobility Service Providers, enabling optimal charging times for consumers, the environment, and the grid. This funding will accelerate Deftpower’s European expansion and further develop its AI-driven smart charging technology.
AI Optimizes EV Charging and Grid Stability
The platform addresses grid congestion by shifting EV charging to off-peak hours. This maximizes renewable energy use and reduces costs for drivers. Unlike traditional systems, Deftpower's scalable infrastructure handles millions of transactions efficiently. For instance, ChargePoint and EVBox also operate in the EV charging space, but Deftpower focuses on AI-driven optimization.
Deftpower's technology anticipates charging needs before an EV connects. By utilizing periods of abundant renewable energy and lower prices, it reduces CO2 emissions and grid strain. Two-thirds of charging can potentially move from peak to off-peak times, supporting a resilient energy system.
The company's white-label eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution currently serves over 40 clients across 10 European countries. This expansion highlights growing demand for advanced eMobility solutions.
