CoLab Software has raised $72 million in a Series C round. The company develops an AI engineering platform to automate complex design tasks. Intrepid Growth Partners led the investment. Existing backers like Insight Partners and Y Combinator also participated in the round.
CoLab's platform, EngineeringOS, helps coordinate design reviews and supplier collaboration. It is used by manufacturing leaders including Ford, GE Appliances, and Lockheed Martin. The technology aims to capture the expert intuition of senior engineers. This addresses a growing knowledge gap as experienced professionals approach retirement. Its system uses eight years of accumulated design data to train its AI agents. This data includes millions of drawings, 3D models, and contextual annotations. AI agents can then spot design flaws and make logical recommendations.
The company recently launched its first agent, called AutoReview. It analyzes 3D models and drawings to identify issues and suggest improvements. Over 47,000 engineers have joined the waitlist for AutoReview since its debut in June.
Early adopters report that the tool works like an experienced mentor.
CoLab's goal is to reduce product design cycles from months to just hours. The new funding will help develop more AI agents and expand commercial partnerships.
