Brave Wallet has integrated NEAR Intents, a move that significantly expands its cross-chain capabilities. This update, detailed on the Brave blog, allows users to swap assets across nearly all supported blockchains directly within the browser wallet.
The integration connects previously siloed ecosystems, including Bitcoin, Solana, Zcash, Cardano, and various EVM-compatible chains like Ethereum and Arbitrum. NEAR Intents has already facilitated over 19 million swaps and $14 billion in volume across 35 chains.
NEAR Intents utilizes a novel transaction architecture designed to simplify cross-chain complexity for DeFi applications, AI agents, and end-users. This eliminates the need for traditional, often cumbersome, bridges.
Seamless Swaps for All Assets
Brave Wallet users can now execute direct swaps between assets that traditionally lack decentralized exchange (DEX) options, such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Zcash (ZEC). This includes transfers involving transparent and shielded ZEC, with refunds automatically returning to the shielded pool.
Shielded transactions, which leverage zero-knowledge proofs for privacy, are a key feature for Zcash users within Brave Wallet. This allows for private sending and storing of cryptocurrency.
James Mudgett, VP of Web3 at Brave, highlighted the intuitive nature of the update, stating, "Users can now move a wide variety of assets across chains, from Bitcoin and Zcash to Solana, Cardano, and the EVM ecosystem, all without bridges or manual gas handling." He emphasized that the goal is to make cross-chain interaction feel natural and frictionless.
Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs, the team behind NEAR Intents, added, "Integrating NEAR Intents into Brave unlocks the freedom to trade seamlessly across chains for anybody with access to a browser, anything from Bitcoin to Shielded Zcash." He sees this as a powerful demonstration of how intent-based infrastructure can simplify access and enhance user privacy.
This integration deepens the existing collaboration between Brave and NEAR, further solidifying Brave's commitment to advancing Web3 crypto integration.
