Bolo AI Secures $8.1M Seed Round to Transform Heavy Industry Operations

Bolo AI, a pioneering company developing artificial intelligence tools for heavy industry, today announced it has successfully closed an $8.1 million seed funding round. This capital injection will fuel the development of what the company terms a "system of action," designed to unlock crucial knowledge for frontline teams, enabling faster, safer, and more informed decision-making within complex operational value chains.
The company’s genesis lies in the unique insights of its co-founders, Chief Executive Diti Sood and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Lalit Jain. Sood’s journey began in the demanding environment of oil and gas fields as a field engineer for Schlumberger NV (SLB). Her experiences, particularly as the first female engineer in her peer group to join offshore rig operations in Abu Dhabi, provided an unparalleled understanding of the daily challenges faced by industrial workers. This invaluable field perspective, combined with her subsequent master of business administration from Harvard and a pivot into AI and tech, positioned her at the nexus of heavy industry and advanced technology.
"I founded Bolo AI with a mission, which is very close to my heart: to make daily work faster, safer and better for the heavy industry worker," Sood stated. "I recognize that I have this privilege and this rare background that combines my field experience and tech background, which gives me an unfair advantage to build this new operating system for the industry."
Heavy industrial job sites are data rich, generating vast quantities of production data, sensor readings, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) information, alongside extensive documentation and management procedures. While enterprise giants like SAP SE, Oracle Corp., and IBM Corp. excel at recording and orchestrating this data, it often remains siloed and inaccessible to the frontline workers and managers who need it most. This disconnect leads to significant inefficiencies and missed opportunities. A project delay, for instance, might be buried deep within an 80-page weekly report, easily overlooked by a busy project manager, leading to cascading issues and substantial financial repercussions.
Bolo AI’s solution is to become the "single pane of glass" for industrial workers. This daily-use platform is engineered for tight integration with existing communication systems like Microsoft Teams and is adaptable across all devices, from desktops to tablets and phones. Its AI-powered insights are meticulously tailored to the specific role and workflow of each user. A drilling operator, for example, would receive real-time intelligence on well logs and potential drilling hazards, while a project manager would gain immediate visibility into schedule data and financial trends, flagging potential cost overruns or delays before they escalate. One of Bolo AI’s initial applications directly tackles the urgent problem of capital project overruns, a notorious challenge where industrial projects can exceed budgets by up to 79% and timelines by six months to two years. The platform intelligently pulls context from disparate sources—including contracts, change orders, and meeting notes—to proactively alert managers, enabling timely interventions and preventing costly escalations.
The $8.1 million seed round was spearheaded by True Ventures, with significant participation from Benchstrength, Accomplice, J Ventures, and Beat Ventures.
