Skycore Semiconductors Raises €5M to Advance AI Power ICs for Data Centers

Skycore Semiconductors secured €5 million in seed funding. This crucial funding will drive innovation in next-generation AI data centers. The company is a Denmark-based fabless chipmaker that specializes in developing specialized AI Power ICs (Integrated Circuits).

Scaling AI compute infrastructure requires massive upgrades to power systems, as current data center power systems create significant bottlenecks. Therefore, new solutions are necessary to manage extreme power demands efficiently. Skycore builds Power ICs specifically for this challenge. These specialized AI Power ICs manage power distribution within the facility, delivering high performance while minimizing physical footprint.

The company has successfully validated its silicon platform for high power density. Furthermore, its technology achieves superior efficiency in a compact, flat form factor. This efficiency is crucial for reducing operational costs. Skycore specifically targets emerging 800V High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) architectures, which mark the first step toward transforming data center power delivery. Skycore thus designs solutions that are inherently scalable for future demands.

CEO Pere Llimós Muntal confirms the need for this fundamental shift, noting that 800V HVDC architectures are essential for scaling AI infrastructure. Consequently, Skycore's specialized AI Power ICs enable these advanced systems. The company currently holds six patent families protecting its core technology, which addresses a critical bottleneck in scaling AI infrastructure globally. This intellectual property strengthens its position in the high-power market.

Skycore is currently preparing its first commercial products for release and plans to collaborate closely with strategic partners. Their aim is to capture the growing demand for specialized AI power solutions. The seed funding round was led by Amadeus APEX Technology Fund, with participation from First Momentum, Mätch VC, and Balnord. These investors recognize the urgent need for efficient AI Power ICs. Skycore currently operates with an eight-person team and plans to expand gradually as they bring products to market. Ultimately, Skycore aims to lead the Power IC sector for high-voltage applications.
