Ruth Monicka Parasol and The Parasol Foundation Trust are donating $3.5 million to fund vital research and create a new multidisciplinary center for the comprehensive treatment of women with breast cancer. The Parasol Foundation Women’s Breast Cancer Center for diagnosis, research and treatment will operate within the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (TASMC). Planned to open in 2024, Tens of thousands of women will benefit from the new center every year. The innovative center will be a one-stop facility for women with breast cancer. Surgeons, experts in the field of pathology, cytology, oncology, X-ray, genetics, as well as psychologists and social workers will all be on hand to support women throughout their treatment. Women will have access to counselling and emotional support from the moment of the initial diagnosis right through to recovery.
The donation will also fund ground-breaking clinical and genetic research led by women physicians over a three-year period starting in 2023 to help:
- Reveal pathways governing drug resistance
- Monitor and analyze the development of breast and ovarian cancer.
- Support with the early detection of breast cancer.
- Develop innovative drugs and treatment methods.
- Keren Marenbakh Lamin and Noa Keren, will lead the research and twenty outstanding women physicians will receive Parasol Foundation research grants to conduct pioneering research into breast and ovarian cancer.
