Are you a Backend Engineer who wants to get into data science and Machine Learning? Outbrain’s AutoML team is looking for an Algorithm Engineer!

The AutoML team is part of Outbrain’s Recommendations Group – about 40 data scientists and algorithm engineers who are responsible for Outbrain’s recommendations engine. AutoML team is a hybrid team that is doing both software engineering and data science.

AutoML team’s responsibilities:

We are developing a state-of-the-art Machine-Learning infrastructure which is used to research, build and deliver Machine Learning models to production. We develop Machine Learning algorithms on top of Outbrain’s Big Data stack, focusing on performance, distribution and scale. Our technological stack includes: Python, Java, and Rust, in addition to Spark, BigQuery, and Tensorflow.

Your personal responsibilities are:

• Work with data scientists and backend engineers to research, develop, and deploy machine learning models at a large scale
• Leverage Outbrain’s rich data sources and large-scale computing resources to build systems that process terabytes of data to constantly improve machine learning models in production.
• Perform software research, development, evaluation, and optimization

Who you are:

• BSc\MSc\PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Software, Information Systems Engineering or similar or equivalent industry experience
• Experience backend engineer – at least 3 years of proven industry experience
• Experience working with large-scale data-intensive systems and big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.)
• Experience in Machine Learning algorithms or data engineering – an advantage
• Multidisciplinary and independent
