# AWS Says 39.3% Growth Is Flywheel, Not Hype _AWS grew 39.3% in Q3 with $578B backlog, but Amazon left out margins, backlog duration and capex payback timing._ **Published:** 2026-10-30 **Source:** https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/public-companies/2026/aws-says-39-3-growth-is-flywheel-not-hype --- [Amazon News](https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/company-news/aws-growth-ai-demand-q3-2026-earnings?utm_source=rss) says AWS grew 39.3% year over year in Q3, accelerating for the sixth straight quarter. The company reported the result on October 29 and tied it to core workloads plus AI demand. No major prediction venue lists a liquid contract on AWS Q4 growth as of October 30, so no odds, volume, or price move is quoted and traders have no settled market to fade. Not financial advice. Amazon said it is installing an AI accelerator about every 14 seconds. Core compute and storage revenue grew at their fastest rates in several years, according to the same update. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy described a flywheel linking core, data and AI. Jassy said having leading functionality, security and operational performance drives apps and data to AWS, which drives AI inference near that data, which drives core demand again. The AI proof points are big but thin on economics. Bedrock Fortune 500 spend rose nearly 7x year over year, the company said. Bedrock token volume rose nearly 17x year over year. Bedrock added [OpenAI](/startups/openai) models plus Kimi, GLM and [SpaceX](https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/ipo-watch/2026/spacex-spcx-drops-below-ipo-price-2026-07-17) models, but Amazon did not disclose Bedrock revenue, AI margin, or take rate. On data, Amazon said DuckDB will become the universal SQL dialect for AWS storage and analytics after its DuckLabs acquisition. The deal was signed August 26 under a definitive agreement to acquire the Amsterdam company behind DuckDB, per AWS Blogs. Amazon said customers will have zero migration or portability costs between query engines, a claim with no benchmark or date attached. Security and agents got similar claims without hard numbers. AWS Continuum now plugs into Claude Code, [Codex](https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/artificial-intelligence/2026/openai-teams-up-with-oracle-cloud) and Kiro, the company said. Tens of thousands of customers use Bedrock AgentCore and deployed 2x more agents in Q3 than the prior three quarters combined, according to Amazon. The next check is Amazon’s Q4 results, typically filed in late January, when backlog conversion and capex payback must show up in cash flow. --- Original analysis from [startuphub.ai](https://www.startuphub.ai), the #1 AI startup directory. © StartupHub.ai.
