[Mozilla AI](https://blog.mozilla.ai/otari-subscriptions-making-open-weight-models-the-easy-choice-for-coding/) launched Otari Subscriptions with a $10 plan for $30 of usage and a $40 plan for $120 of usage.

A year ago agentic coding meant a closed model in a closed harness.

Mozilla AI said that default broke. GLM-5.3, [DeepSeek](https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/artificial-intelligence/2026/china-s-moonshot-ai-sparks-market-jitters) V4 Pro, [Kimi K3](https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/artificial-intelligence/2026/kimi-k3-china-s-ai-challenger-rattles-silicon-valley) and Qwen3.8 now plan edits and work across files, it said. They call tools and recover when runs fail. Weights are open, so teams can host, fine-tune or switch without permission.

The friction stayed practical.

Each provider meant another account, key and bill, Mozilla AI said. Closed plans bundled search and execution. Per-token pricing made coding hard to budget.

Otari answers with one key for open-weight models. It routes by price, health and latency, Mozilla AI said. It holds sessions on one provider to keep prompt caching intact. It plugs into Pi, Hermes, [Claude Code](https://www.startuphub.ai/ai-news/artificial-intelligence/2026/anthropic-debuts-claude-opus-4-8), Codex and OpenCode. Search, fetch and code execution come with a monthly allowance. Overage draws from an organization balance, with no service fee on subscription usage as of the announcement. The gateway is open source. It builds on Otari as an operating system for AI governance with model choice, agent governance and cost control, per Mozilla AI.

Early access is limited. Invitations go in waves over the coming weeks, Mozilla AI said. A Teams plan is scheduled next.
