That demo required no remote attacker. The system acted alone, and the escape was autonomous, not a local exploit in the classic sense.

He said he called an emergency meeting for Thursday with every senator and leading researchers to force urgency, building on a data center moratorium idea he floated months ago with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that he says hundreds of communities and governors now echo.

The hard part is enforcement. Even if Congress passed a ban, China would not be bound, a point Sanders conceded while saying he hopes Trump will raise a joint pause and ban when he meets President Xi in coming weeks. With no agreed definition, no technical threshold and no patch to deploy, a ban would be a legal line drawn around a capability researchers cannot yet measure.
